During emergencies in GEDO Region ITEPADS worked with local partners and communities to provide 20 new water catchment facilities.There had been enormous benefit to women in particular, who bear the burden of cleaning and looking after children under conditions characterized by water shortage.
ITEPADS has supported the construction of 100 new latrines. These latrines have succeeded in elevating hygiene levels within villages and schools in Balet-hawa and Garbaharey Gedo Region. Reports indicate that the risk of disease, such as diarrhea among children, has decreased. Natural water sources are also less contaminated from open defecation.
The organization has over the years conducted a number trainings to local CBOs in Somalia .The main objective of trainings was to provide communities with knowledge, skills and resources to enable them to develop, and to improve their standard of living by having better health, increased income, enhanced social status, and a cleaner environment through sustainable programs.
ITEPADS conducts capacity building forums to enhance the capacity of communities to access and utilize knowledge and resources for the benefit of the communities.
